ChatGPT Now Allows Future Scheduling for Reminders and News

OpenAI has announced the launch of Tasks, a groundbreaking new feature for ChatGPT, designed to elevate the chatbot into a fully functional digital assistant. This feature is now available to subscribers with Plus, Pro, and Team accounts, offering users the ability to schedule specific actions and receive timely notifications via email or directly on their phones.
How Tasks Works
The Tasks feature can be accessed through the profile icon in ChatGPT. Users can either select from suggested tasks or create personalized reminders by directly instructing ChatGPT. These scheduled notifications can range from simple daily reminders, such as “Practice guitar daily,” to more complex requests like “Provide a summary of today’s financial news at market close.”
OpenAI’s Vision for AI Agents
OpenAI President and co-founder Greg Brockman hinted at the company’s future direction in a post on X, stating that OpenAI will focus on developing AI agents in 2025. In the context of AI, an agent refers to programs capable of autonomously performing tasks on behalf of users.
Introducing “Operator”
According to a report by Bloomberg, OpenAI is set to release an enhanced version of its agent, dubbed “Operator,” later this month. This upgraded agent builds on the foundation of Tasks but adds advanced capabilities, such as writing code or booking travel, making it a more versatile tool for users.

The concept of Agentic AI is gaining momentum, as highlighted by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang during his keynote speech at CES 2025. Huang described AI agents as the “new digital workforce,” predicting that they will create a multi-trillion-dollar industry and significantly reshape the global workforce.
