Google's AI Tools Now Free in Workspace Apps

Google has made all of its AI tools available for free in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Meet, and other Workspace apps. Before, you had to pay $20 per user per month for the Gemini Business plan to use these tools. Now, they are included without extra cost. Google is doing this to compete with Microsoft, OpenAI, and other companies working on AI-powered office tools.

However, there’s a catch: Google is raising the price of all Workspace plans. The new cost will be about $2 more per user each month. So, if you were paying $12 per user before, the price will now be $14. This increase will help cover the cost of the new AI features.

The new AI tools include helpful features like email summaries in Gmail, automatic designs for spreadsheets and videos, an automated note-taker for meetings, and a powerful research assistant called NotebookLM. These tools also include access to the Gemini bot, which can chat with you, help you search, and find information.

Jerry Dischler, Google's president of cloud applications, says that many businesses struggled with AI costs before. Now, they get all the AI tools they need without paying more, which should make it easier for them to use these tools in their everyday work. New features will be coming soon, too.

Google is not the only company making AI tools more accessible. Microsoft also made its AI features part of the standard Microsoft 365 subscription, removing the $20 monthly fee for some plans. Both companies are betting that giving more people access to their AI tools will help them grow in the long run.
